Founder and Owner of Wilderness Wear Australia, Philip offers an interesting perspective on how property owners such as him can contribute to ending homelessness.
Philip Endersbee has been a supporter of HomeGround for some time and the Real Estate initiative was something he was excited to be a part of. “It’s an opportunity for those fortunate enough to be property owners to be part of something bigger”, he says, “something which can change lives and have a lasting impact”.
Before setting up Wilderness Wear Australia in 1989, Philip spent 17 years with Pacific Dunlop building and running textile factories in Australia and overseas.
His initial involvement in the not-for-profit sector came in 1975 as a board member of a small Credit Union in Tasmania. Since then his involvement with Leadership Victoria, The Rotary Club of Melbourne, the John T Reid Charitable Trusts and Plan International has enabled Philip to spend the bulk of his voluntary time beyond the factory floor in Preston.
Long a member of numerous boards, in more recent times Philip has developed a particular interest in working with those who are most marginalised in our community.
Philip was first involved with HomeGround at CommonGround and since it’s completion has been involved from the very beginning with this new initiative into real estate.
He has listed two apartments in Kew with HomeGround Real Estate at below market rent.
Philip explains, “I have been fortunate enough to acquire some investment property and I am encouraged by the work HomeGround does in working to prevent homelessness. I had the capacity to forego a percentage of rental income in order to help a family in need and would strongly urge others who are in this position to do the same.”
HomeGround Real Estate provides a professional service with attention to detail. Philip says, “they care about my property and that gives me confidence.”
